Young champions shine at Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) Divisional and Championship finals.

The RCLFA Divisional and Championship finals brought together young athletes at Marks Parks Sports Club for an unforgettable weekend of football.

This past weekend, Marks Parks Stadium had the honour of hosting the highly anticipated Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) Divisional and Championship finals.

The event showed the talent of young athletes as they competed for glory in various age categories, culminating in an exciting display of football talent.

The championship finals featured entertaining matches across multiple divisions, with teams vying for the coveted championship cup titles.
RCLF administrator Greg Green expressed satisfaction with the finals, noting, “The event went very well and without incident. The matches were played in good spirits throughout the day.”

However, he emphasised the need for a stronger focus on grassroots development for both coaches and players.

“We cannot just arrive at U13 to U17 and expect to produce the next crop of national players and coaches. Coach education must be one of our priorities over the next couple of years.”

He highlighted that while not every player would reach the highest levels of professional football, many could still secure opportunities through university or college scholarships.

His vision for the future is clear. “Unity is strength, so let us find ways to work together for the benefit of these young footballers.”
