SuperSpar celebrates one year
of successful business

Since its grand opening in August last year, SuperSpar at the Newcastle Corner shopping centre has made achievements in leaps and bounds.
After the usual teething problems, SuperSpar triumphed over its challenges and reigned supreme in the industry, and are set to celebrate its one year birthday.
New to the position of assistant manager, Clinton Sweeting fits the adage of still waters running deep.
He has extensive knowledge in the catering and beverage industry, which helped him fulfill new tasks.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating one year in business,” he said.
With SuperSpar’s customer base continually on the rise, Sweeting said he was excited to be part of this successful venture and the surprises it has in store.
“I enjoy the retail business, and believe in working hard and learning from failures.”
Behind every successful leader is a hard working team, and Sweeting considers everyone in his team as key roleplayers. The butchery manager, Maritza Koster, ensured quality meats were provided to customers. From homemade pies to patties and even ostrich meat, a variety of beef, pork, lamb and chicken treats are on offer. A specialised biltong area is also a highlight. In the deli section, Chef Pedro Bezerra-Neto of Portuguese descent, makes sure delicious hot meals are available, along with curries, and eisbein.
The smell of decadent confectionery and butter pastries are courtesy of bakery manager, Vincent Khumalo. Fresh produce at reasonable prices in the fruit and vegetable section is the responsibility of Ashley Sikambo. SuperSpar has also introduced free apples to children; the basket is placed at the front of the store in the fruit and vegetable section, near the front door. Ephraim Matlaletsa also works hand-in-hand with Sweeting as assistant manager of the Perishables Department at SuperSpar.
“Customers are our priority.”
Excited to welcome the second phase at the Newcastle Corner, Sweeting confirmed Dischem and Debonairs Pizza were new tenants.
Building up to its birthday celebrations, running from August 26 to 27, SuperSpar will be giving away prizes on the day, as well as not-to-be-missed in-store specials.
“SuperSpar thanks its customers for their support and look forward to many successful years ahead,” concluded Sweeting.
What can Newcastillians expect at SuperSpar’s birthday celebrations?
Customers who spend R300 or more stand a chance to win a mountain bike or a microwave, among other grand prizes. A live draw will be conducted on September 2.
