Children celebrate World Egg Day

World Egg Day was celebrated with various feeding schemes in the town.

Today is World Egg Day, but celebrations were kicked off a day earlier.

The egg industry is committed to ensure people have access to sustainable, quality food and because of this, South African egg producers showed their commitment by donating health parcels to the less fortunate within the community.

Benefiting from World Egg Day was Child Welfare’s Peter Pan Crèche, where 40 children were treated with an egg sandwich, juice, fruit and a cream doughnut.

The children were delighted with the treat and devoured their lunches in a heart beat.

While playing an important part of people’s dietary requirements, not many know the exact importance off eating eggs.

Eggs help build muscle and provide protein of the highest quality that, along with carbohydrates and other nutrients, build strong muscles and maintain muscle mass.

Eggs also help develop strong bones , teeth and help with brain development and further helps birth defects.

While the old idiom claims that eating an apple a day will keep the doctor away, it seems that an egg a day will ensure further health benefits.
