Training locals to become commercial farmers
They will be taught how they can use their produce to make certain products.

As part of an initiative to encourage farming in many communities countrywide, the Department of Agriculture has teamed up with the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform to start a project where people from rural areas are trained on how they can develop farming skills and in the process become commercial farmers.
43 community members were chosen from all around the AbaQulusi area to attend this training course which was held at Stillwater Hotel from Monday, February 17 until Friday, February 21.
The trainees were taught all they need to know about farming from how to get rid of harmful pests without harming their plants to which soil was suitable for planting certain fruit or vegetables.
The Department of Agriculture is also aiming to introduce these farmers to the process of Agro-processing whereby they will be taught how they can use their produce to make certain products. For example, those who farm oranges may not always be able to sell their oranges to local supermarkets and thus they will be taught how to make products such as orange juice from their yield
