Man killed after stopping to help

N3TC Route Patroller Theo Cele was driving past and stopped to assist but his good intentions turned tragic when he was killed in a secondary crash

A fatal crash was reported close to the Loskop Flyover on Saturday evening.
The accident alert was received at 6.10pm and three vehicles were involved.
According to the accident report the driver from a Renault experienced a front tyre burst, which sent the vehicle veering out of control.
N3TC Route Patroller Theo Cele was driving past and stopped to assist but his good intentions turned tragic when he was killed in a secondary crash.
An approaching vehicle ploughed into Mr Cele, killing him instantly.
Three other people were injured and taken to hospital.
Reports indicate that a child passed away in hospital later.
N3TC Commercial Manager Con Roux said that Mr Cele had been a member of the company’s Route Patrol Service for 13 years and would be sorely missed.
“N3TC expresses its deepest sympathies to Theo’s friends and colleagues and pleads with motorists to drive with utmost care at all times,” said Mr Roux.
