Petrol price likely to drop next month

However, the AA says that if the local currency does not return to levels under R14 to the dollar, the fuel price picture could be different by December

Ladysmith motorists will be crossing their fingers after hearing that the price of fuel could decrease next month.

The petrol price could drop by 45 cents a litre after declining international oil prices.

Diesel could go down by 38 cents and illuminating paraffin by 40 cents.

This was said by the Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) when commenting on mid-month fuel price data released by the Central Energy Fund.

However, the AA says the rand has weakened sharply in the wake of American election results and if the local currency does not return to levels under R14 to the dollar, the fuel price picture could be different by December.
