SANTACO hosts prayer for the embattled taxi industry

The prayer was attended by representatives of government departments, including the office of Premier, Willies Mchunu, the Department of Transport led by MEC, Mxolisi Kaunda, who was represented by the Department of Health MEC, Doctor Sibongiseni Dhlomo, and members of SANTACO.

South Africa National Taxi Council (SANTACO) KZN, together with the KZN Department of Transport, held a prayer day for members of the taxi industry at Farmers Hall on October 29.

The prayer was attended by representatives of government departments, including the office of Premier, Willies Mchunu, the Department of Transport led by MEC, Mxolisi Kaunda, who was represented by the Department of Health MEC, Doctor Sibongiseni Dhlomo, and members of SANTACO.

The main purpose of the day was to pray for peace and stability within the taxi transportation sector, and for the safety of road users during the upcoming festive season.

Chairperson of SANTACO in KZN, Boy Zondi, said the taxi industry boosts the economy with more than R5-million daily.

He urged all taxi drivers and rank managers to obey and respect road safety rules.
