Livestock in Boundary Road are a nuisance
Wishing to remain anonymous out of fear of victimisation, the business owner claimed livestock have wandered onto his business premises on numerous occasions, climbed onto his car and defecated on neighbouring properties.
LENNOXTON – A business owner is disgusted that a small farm holding is operating in Midway Road, just off Boundary Road in Lennoxton.
“Not only are there goats, horses, ducks and peacocks on the property, but the owner of the animals has gone as far to build his own dam,” he complained.
Wishing to remain anonymous out of fear of victimisation, the business owner claimed livestock have wandered onto his business premises on numerous occasions, climbed onto his car and defecated on neighbouring properties.
“I want to know why this is being allowed,” he demanded.
He allegedly reported the issue to the municipality several times over the past year, both telephonically and via emails.
“Someone needs to be paying rates.”
He claimed traffic flow to his business premises was being compromised by the little farm and roaming animals.
“I have to enter my property through my landlord’s entrance, which I should not have to do. My landlord has also questioned the legalities of the farm holding as his business is just affected as mine. By law, there should be an exit to every property, but I have to use a small side entrance as an exit and entrance for my clients.”
One of the biggest concerns for the resident was the health related implications which could arise from the animals.
“A colleague of mine found a tick on himself, it could have only come from the animals. The stench is also horrid, especially when the wind blows or it is hot. I would like to know what the municipality is doing about this.”
The municipality was contacted for comment, but no response was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
