Bakkie driver seriously injured after head-on collision with truck in Ladysmith

Fire department and emergency personnel worked tirelessly to extricate the bakkie driver from the mangled wreckage

The driver of a Nissan bakkie was seriously injured today (October 27) in a crash on the N11 just outside Ladysmith, near Van Riebeeck Park.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.

What is known is that a truck and a bakkie collided head-on.

All emergency personnel responded to the scene, including Public Safety, Ladysmith Fire Department and police.

Fire department and emergency personnel worked tirelessly to extricate the bakkie driver from the mangled wreckage.

The man was stabilised at the scene and then rushed to hospital.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

Public Safety and police controlled traffic flow.
