Esperanza educates on the importance of child safety

Once the presentations were finished, guests and children indulged in delicious food platters which were sponsored by Blackrock Casino.

As part of Child Protection Week, the Esperanza Special Needs School held a Child Safety Awareness Day at the school, for learners and their parents on Friday (May 25).

The goal of the day was to educate the learners about child abuse, and what to do when in a situation of abuse.

The teachers present conducted a short demonstration of child abuse and how the situation would be handled when reported to authorities.

They also taught the learners the 10111 emergency number which could be used to report any form of abuse.

ER24 also attended on the day, and gave a brief description of how they handled different emergency situations.

Once the presentations were finished, guests and children indulged in delicious food platters which were sponsored by Blackrock Casino.

School principal, Jennifer Pillay thanked everyone who helped make the day a success, as well as everyone who had sponsored items.
