Heavy police presence at Endumeni Municipality

The police are on standby as rumours of a protest intensify

There is a heavy police presence outside Endumeni Municipality as fears of more protest action grips the town.

Members of the POP Unit and traffic officials are gathered outside the municipality as a precaution.

Numerous rumours have been doing the rounds that a massive march was planned for today and that riot police and a helicopter were even called in to help with the situation.

Organisers of the original protest last week, say that they gave the Premier’s Office until June 27 to respond to their memorandum.

However, some heard that the Premier’s Office were to respond within 7 days of the handover of the memorandum.

Roads were blocked in Sibongile this morning, however, there have been no reports of disruptions in town as yet.
