It has been alleged that Lynique’s grandfather was asleep while the children were in the house. When he awoke, the three toddlers were no longer in the bedroom, where they were asleep.
After informing the neighbours, a number of Colita residents and family members searched for the children. An appeal for assistance was also shared on social media platforms.

The police were contacted, but allegedly could not come to take statements as there was no police van at the station. Eventually a van arrived and took the necessary statements, while the community joined hands to pray for the safe return of the children.
All three toddlers were returned to the home early on Sunday morning and were met by their distraught parents. The children have been to the hospital for medical tests since.
