Sewage flows for months on end in Forbes Street, leaving residents fuming

Raw effluent has been flowing for months in Forbes Street, say angry residents.

The problem has sprung up due to blocked sewer lines, which has caused the manholes to overflow.

Residents say the smell is awful and they can’t even open any windows, as flies swarm into their homes.

Councillor Abbas Warasally was contacted by those affected, as they are not getting any joy from uThukela.

Cllr Warasally commented that the entire area is a problem and people cannot live in such a mess.

He will be taking the matter further with uThukela to get the problem fixed and says he wants answers as to why the matter is taking so long to be resolved.
