How to make money with your junk this weekend
One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Are you uncertain what to do with odds and ends and various bric-a-brac lying around the house?
Why not take it to the auctioneers on Scott Street and see if they can sell it for you?

Pieta Burger, owner of PJ Burger Auctioneers, began his business when some town residents decided to get rid of their unwanted household items by selling it to him. That was the light bulb moment when an entrepreneurial idea was born.
“Every Saturday we hold an auction, and not a single item remains. We auction everything,” Pieta said.
Going strong for the past few years now, Pieta and his family offer this service to the community, where sellers can bring through any item from antique coffee tables to authentic leather jackets and kitchenware to be sold.
Pieta’s son and daughter-in-law sell delicious boerewors rolls to people attending the auction, and this creates a festive-like atmosphere at the premises.
“For a nominal fee, it is a win-win situation, as one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” smiled Pieta.
Viewing of the items on sale is from 9am on the day of the auction, and at 9.30am the action starts with buyers hoping to purchase second-hand items at a bargain price.
For more information, visit the auctioneers every Saturday on Scott Street, next to the Old Armoury. Alternatively, call Pieta on 082 680 0704.
