Yashdeer Singh, fondly known as Yash, is a man with a smooth, soothing voice who is making waves in the South African music industry.
28-year-old Yash, originally from Ladysmith and currently living in Johannesburg, is well-known for his singing and also playing different musical instruments.
He is versatile in both Eastern and Western music, and has always been known to give back to the community through his music. Yash explains that he is a self-taught musician who has never been for any vocal training.
He has sung and played at numerous events; such as the Cancer Association, People of the Blind and religious organisations; not to mention all the charity work he has been involved in.
Yash started picking up instruments at the tender age of seven, learning the tabla, dholak and jazz drums before making his debut at 10 years old at a benefit concert for baby Erin.
He went on to run two bands, with his band SPANK being one of the best around. A few years on, Yash is now a dynamic and powerful singer on the local music scene.
In February this year, he claimed the coveted Artes Award in KZN for his contribution to music and the community.
