Lights return to Dannhauser after one week outage
Lotus Drive residents are celebrating after electricity was restored following a seven-day outage in Dannhauser.
Dannhauser residents last night, Monday, welcomed the return of electricity after spending seven days without power.
Farzanah Dookie of the Dannhauser Helping Hands Organisation said the return of electricity had brought a sense of celebration to Lotus Street and other areas.
“It sounds like New Year’s Eve on our street!” Dookie said.
“After seven days without electricity, the lights are finally back on. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible. We really appreciate you.”
Dannhauser has been beset with power outages since the start of the cold spell last weekend. Parts of the Newtown area experienced outages followed by issues in Durnacol and later in the South Park, Lotus Street area.
Nhlanhla Madlala of Eskom’s Central Eastern Cluster Communication Unit said a faulty transformer had to be repaired, causing the delay. The repairs came amid several other outages across the province following the cold front that brought snow to parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
