‘Curv-a-thon’ for breast cancer awareness

There was also a prize-giving after the sweaty workouts were out of the way

The Ladysmith branch of Curves held a successful ‘Curv-a-thon’ on Friday to show their support for the fight against breast cancer.

The event involved different teams participating by completing two rounds of the machine circuits at the gym, with everyone in good spirits and dressed in their funkiest gear. Some Zumba (dancing exercise) was also enjoyed by the attendees. In addition to this, there was also a prize-giving after the sweaty workouts were out of the way.

Prizes were awarded to the ‘best dressed’ team, the ‘most outrageous team’, and the ‘mature’ team for the golden oldies. The winners were treated to gifts such as Curves branded towels and meal replacement shakes, together with a protein shake bottle.

Curves Ladysmith owner Patti Cuninghame was pleased at the outcome of the event. “It went very well and in the process, we managed to raise R3700 towards the breast cancer cause,” she said.

It was a lovely evening enjoyed by one and all, for a good cause. Who said exercise and charity don’t mix?
