Many people think that families become less important to children as they move into the teenage years
What’s your relationship with your parents like?
Think long and hard about this one and give yourself an honest answer. Have your parents written you off? Are you not on talking terms with them? Do they trust you? ‘Best friends’ – does this sum up the relationship you share?

Parents need to realise that most of the time, it’s the small things and the everyday activities that keep your relationship strong.
Your children need love and support from parents at a time when lots of other things in their lives are changing. Things like homework, sibling fights, trust, too many chores and boundaries cause tension between you and parents.
But the above barely scratches the surface. Young adults seem to have even bigger issues, which result in driving their parents away.

You get parents trying to live a life they dreamed through their children, this is wrong on so many levels. Parents also can’t make their children prisoners to avoid them falling into the clutches of worldly things.
This tactic only makes them want to expose that more, creating an even bigger problem. When you do have a rebellious teen, don’t side with them on their wrongdoings find a way to deal with the problem at hand.
Some teenagers feel their parents need to show more trust and give them more independence, but they also know that parents are mostly just concerned for their safety.

Yes, don’t baby you children, find the balance. Help them become independent, well-adjusted, considerate and caring adults Strong family relationships can go a long way.
