Former Miss SA robbed in Randburg

RANDBURG – Former Miss SA is allegedly robbed in Randburg on 6 June.

Former Miss SA Lorna Potgieter-Rossetti fell victim to crime on the morning of 6 June.

According to unconfirmed reports, the 52-year-old 1984 pageant winner said she was in Randburg on her way to her friend’s birthday lunch when she stopped her car on the side of the road to check for the address.

Reports also said that the two suspects approached her and one of them pointed a gun at her.

It is also alleged that the two suspects then hit her on the head and tried to rip off her ring from her finger.

However, the suspects took off with her money, purse and her pair of readings glasses .

It is reported that the Randburg Police responded quickly, and one of the alleged robbers was arrested shortly afterwards while he was getting into a minibus taxi.

“Thank you so much to everyone for the kind and uplifting messages after my terrifying armed hijacking and robbery yesterday morning… Thank God I was not seriously hurt (other than emotionally) … I lost some precious possessions but this means nothing after having guns pointed at your head. Thank you Lord and my Angels for protecting me and keeping me so calm,” Potgieter-Rossetti wrote on Facebook.

Randburg Police are still to comment.
