Douglasdale CPF hosts crime awareness campaigns within its precinct
Festive season crime awareness campaigns continue throughout the Douglasdale precinct.
The Douglasdale Community Police Forum (CPF) continues its festive season crime awareness campaign, recently visiting Bellairs Shopping Centre in North Riding to engage with residents.
The CPF joined forces with several stakeholders, including Douglasdale SAPS, the National Children and Violence Trust (NCVT), the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), and Bellairs Shopping Centre management, to host yet another successful outreach initiative.

The campaign aims to educate and engage the public ahead of the busy holiday season. Motorists and pedestrians received brochures and safety tips from all participating partners.

Douglasdale SAPS shared advice on general safety, theft of motor vehicles and gate motors, as well as the growing concern around cellphone snatching. NCVT, represented by Lethabo Kolo, focused on raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV).
GCIS, represented by Moloko Segale and Tshidi Mokoka, distributed vibrant, eco-friendly reusable shopping bags filled with valuable information on road safety and the protection of children and vulnerable persons.

CPF’s Sector 1 chairperson, Mike Tuck, along with Emile Barnard (patroller coordinator), Moshen Naicker, and Johann Schonken, engaged with the public to explain the CPF’s role in community safety. They also shared emergency contact details and took note of residents’ concerns.

Freda Boiles of the CPF explained that the campaign was well-received by the public, who appreciated the visible presence and active engagement of all involved.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to Frans Manala of Bellairs Shopping Centre management for his valued support and express our gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued dedication and professionalism in ensuring the success of this initiative.”
She urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to SAPS by calling 10111.
