Bogus cops on the run after Pta robbery

Tshwane police West cluster have launched a manhunt against two men accused of robbing people on the N4 highway recently.

Two armed men posing as police officers are on the run after holding up a truck and robbing its occupants of cash.

The incident happened on the N4 freeway while the truck was driving from Rustenburg to Pretoria last Thursday.

The suspects used a blue light similar to the ones used by police to stop the truck. They then allegedly assaulted, threatened and robbed the pair in the truck of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Pretoria Central police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola said the two suspects were allegedly driving a silver Opel Astra without a registration number.

He said one of the victims sustained minor head injuries.

“Reports say there was a series of robberies which occurred around the N4 freeway,” Lamola said.

He asked those who might have information to come forward.

“We plead with anyone who might have knowledge of the incident as well as the description of the vehicle used in the commission of the crime to assist us for the arrest of the suspects,” said Lamola.
