Two bogus police officers are on the prowl in shopping malls in and around Pretoria to rob unsuspecting women.

Police spokesperson constable Connie Moganedi said the two were out to take handbags and cellphones belonging to the women, claiming that they are detectives.

“They tell women they need to verify that computer tablets and cellphones belonging to the women are not stolen items.”

Moganedi said the two were driving a silver Toyota Corrolla and were roaming around Bronkhortspruit, Cullinan, Moloto and other areas of Pretoria.

They targeted their victims in shopping malls, showing them a fake police appointment certificate.

Moganedi urged anyone with information on the matter to call investigating officer Sergeant Tlholo on 071-690-0202.
