Woman killed in multi-vehicle accident

Three children were left in a critical condition while their mother was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Irene.

A woman was killed while three children sustained critical injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on the corner of Nellmapius drive and Main road, paramedics said.

Emer-G-Med spokesman Braam Kruger said the accident happened around 14:00 on Sunday.

“Paramedics found that three vehicles had collided. A woman was declared dead on the scene while  her three daughters, a one-year-old and four-year-old and12-year-old, were critically injured.”

Kruger said the injured were all treated on the scene before they were transported by ambulances to a nearby hospital.

“The cause of the accident and preceding events are still unknown and this will remain the subject of a police investigation.”
