Lyttelton clean-up campaign
The Lyttelton Sector 1 Community Policing Sub-Forum and the Lyttelton police joined hands to help clean the area and fight crime.
The Lyttelton Sector 1 Community Policing Sub-Forum (LS1 CPsF) in partnership with the Lyttelton police decided to take the bull by the horns by recently launching a cleaning campaign at the Lyttelton police station.
Chairperson of the LS1 CPsF, Hugo Erasmus, explained that the community saw a need to clean the station and decided to help where they could. He added that when they approached the police regarding this initiative, they got a good response.
“We have been working closely with the police over the past years and we have built a strong relationship with them.”
He explained that members of the community also responded well to the initiative, as they wanted to see the station cleaned.
“This is one of the great initiatives for 2014, and we will continue working together with the police to achieve a clean and crime-free area.”
Captain Deon van Zyl from the Lyttelton police station said that when the community approached them with the idea, they were delighted about the cleaning campaign as it was sometimes difficult to maintain the area.
She said the community also washed police vehicles and fixed the gate at the main entrance. The LS1 CPsF covers Zwartkop and all its extensions, including Verwoerdburgstad, the Centurion CBD and Die Hoewes.
It also has a Joint Operation Centre in Highveld that operates 24-hours a day and the community can contact them on 086-157-1911.
