Parents can now apply for 2015 academic year
Admission into schools for the 2015 academic year is now open. Parents have until May to send their children's applications to public schools, the Gauteng Department of Education said.
Pretorian parents looking to enroll their little ones at public schools for the 2015 academic year can now apply, as the application and admission period commenced on Monday, the Gauteng Department of Education said. “The admission period shall be the period of Monday, 7 April to Friday, 29 August 2014. All learners applying for admission for 2015 must be placed by 29 August,” said the head of the Gauteng Education Department, Boy Ngobeni.
From Monday, public schools had to distribute an admission application form to any parent or learner requesting admission. “Admission application forms may only be returned to the school from 15 April to 27 May, where the parent shall be provided, in writing, with a waiting list number in terms of education regulations on submission of the admission application form,” Ngobeni said.
According to the department’s admission timetable, schools should place learners in vacant spaces by June.
