Music festival to raise funds for Moot girl
Ten-year-old Divenette Streicher has been in hospital for three months after it was discovered that her appendix had burst.
Moot community members and non-profit organisations have joined forces to raise funds for a little girl who has been in hospital for three months after her appendix had burst without anyone realising.
From Friday to Sunday, local musicians, political leaders as well as members of the community hosted a music festival to help raise funds for 10-year-old Divenette Streicher’s accumulating medical bills.

Streicher was hospitalised in February after a doctor had previously misdiagnosed her with a faulty bladder and kidneys.
It was later discovered by another doctor that a burst appendix was, in fact, the cause for her troublesome health.
One of the event’s organisers, Marinda Austin said the family was unable to afford medical aid and was in dire need of assistance.

She said the girl has been in intensive care as she had complications, which made it all the more difficult for the parents financially.
Festivalgoers could donate or buy items on sale, with the money raised going towards Divenette’s medical bills.
“People have been very supportive and willing to assist,” Austin said.
Items such as caps and bracelets were also sold by non-profit organisation Arms of Mercy, with all the money going towards the initiative.
Singer Eunice Kemp said for the artists it was fulfilling to try and assist someone in need while doing what they love most.
“Such initiatives are close to my heart because I lost my grandmother to cancer. Where there is a chance to save a life, we must all unite to do what we can,” she said.

“When people get together, great things are bound to happen.”
Austin said that other members of the community were starting their own initiatives to assist the family.
She said more such concerts would be held and she urged people to support the cause to help save Divenette’s life.
