NEWSFLASH: Driver narrowly escapes fire in Rietfontein
An eyewitness saw the driver watching his car engulfed in flames.
A motorist narrowly escaped from an overturned vehicle moments before it caught fire in Rietfontein on Friday.
The burning vehicle was spotted around 15:00 on the corner of Swemmer Street and 17th Avenue.
Eyewitness Jacques du Plessis said the car overturned in Swemmer Street, after which it caught fire.
“When I arrived on the scene, the driver was standing there watching the flames devouring his vehicle.” said Du Plessis.
Tshwane emergency services, police and ambulance services were quickly on the scene.
The cause of the accident was not immediately clear and police were investigating.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes.
