Shortly after the incident, police said they were keen to speak to Lekgoathi’s Lesotho national ex-boyfriend Thlakola Motsoetla who had “disappeared” since the incident.

At the time, Miller said it was possible the 37-year-old man could “shed some light regarding the incident” as he was last seen in the vicinity where the murder took place.

When Rekord spoke Andrew – Lekgoati’s son – in September, he said the family was worried as they had not received any updates regarding the murder investigation.

“The family was told after the murder that the police were investigating, but we have not heard anything since,” he said.

Andrew then claimed the person who committed the crime was known to the family but claimed police were dragging their feet.
