Over 40 suspects arrested in the north over the weekend

A total of 40 suspects were arrested when Ga-Rankuwa police conducted a crime prevention operation at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi said the operations, performed by police detectives, comprised activities such as unannounced raids, stop and searches as well as visible policing.
The operation was aimed at addressing all crimes around Ga-Rankuwa, said Nkoadi.

“Suspects arrested included those sought for attempted assault with intent to cause bodily harm, shoplifting, business robbery, illegal immigrants, contravention of protection orders, theft, common assault, murder, possession of drugs and malicious damage to property, among other things,” he said.
All the suspects who were arrested will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court soon.
“Illegal immigrants will be deported by the Department of Home Affairs,” he said.
Police urged community members to report all forms of crime and fraud on the part of the police to crime stop number 08600-10111.
