NEWSFLASH: Decomposed body found in Laudium

“Upon arrival police discovered that it was indeed the body of a deceased African male.”

Police in Laudium are investigating after some children came across the decomposed body of a man.

The body was found lying in a water canal between Agra West Street and Military Road on Saturday afternoon.

The discovery was made at around 13:30. 

“The children were playing in the area when they noticed something that looked like a body in the water,” said police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane.

“They then alerted a woman who stays nearby who called the police.”

“Upon arrival police discovered that it was indeed the body of a deceased African male.”

With the help of the fire department, police pulled the decomposed body from the waters.

They have yet to release a description of the deceased, including what he might have been wearing at the time. 

“The cause of death is unknown at this stage.”

Police are urging anyone with more information to contact police on 08600-10111.
