Cheerful north girl just can’t stop winning

A Pretoria North learner has reason to smile after she walked away from various championships this year, with her hands full of awards.

A Pretoria North learner has reason to smile after she walked away from various championships this year, with her hands full of awards.

Savannah Strydom (11) boasts awards in gymnastics, cheerleading and more.

Her four medals included a bronze at the mini SA championships, a silver at the Gauteng championships, a silver at the Gauteng North championships, a bronze at the Oltre cup and gold medal at the club championships.

She was also awarded her colours this year.

Strydom also excelled as a cheerleader this year and was chosen as a junior Subbie cheerleader for the team of 2020.

She received a bronze medal at the SA cheerleading competition as part of as the Batton group.

The eager cheerleader also received a certificate for best progress throwing prop and flag small and large drill.

Strydom was also awarded the most promising cheerleader for the year of 2019.

Not only did Strydom excel at extra-mural activities, but on the sports field as well. This year, she walked away with five medals, four silver and one gold for cross country. She also played under-11 league hockey, then went on to rank second at grade 5 science expo.

“Like the Cinderella you are, never let the fear of losing stop you from chasing your dreams and making it a reality,” her mother Gerdiena Strydom said on her daughter’s achievements.
