Blocked storm water drain leads to flooding in north – 10 houses affected
No lives in danger but the community members needed assistance.
Tshwane emergency spokesperson Charles Mabaso said on Wednesday evening, that his team responded to a call of flooding in the area.
“The Tshwane emergency services’ call centre received calls for flooding in Tsunami section in Ga-Rankuwa at 19:47. On arrival, the crews found two incidents at the same location where houses were affected by flash-floods due to a blocked storm water drain.”

Mabaso said the ward councillor requested assistance from the storm water department and fire crews had to assist divert water away from the houses.
Mabaso said emergency services personnel were still assessing whether the community members needed relief.
“The community members did not need any rescue, their lives were not in imminent danger but they needed assistance.”
He said no injuries were reported.
