‘Well-known’ north man found dead

The businessman was allegedly known for selling cheap alcohol in the area.

Soshanguve police are investigating the death of a well-known businessman who was found with a gunshot wound in his head on Sunday morning.

“He was rushed to Botshelo private hospital where he was certified dead,” said police spokesperson Constable Portia Sebone.

In an unrelated incident, Loate police are investigating a murder case of a 44-year-old man which occurred in the early hours of Monday, in Winterveldt.

It is alleged that Sipho Mahlangu was sleeping when he heard a sound outside where his car was parked. He went outside to investigate and was shot.

“A family member also went outside to check and found the victim lying down, bleeding. He was rushed to Odi hospital where he was certified dead,” said police spokesperson Captain Samuel Sebola.

Sebola said an empty bullet cartridge was found at the scene.

A motive for the killing was not known.
