Total Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 337 594

The number of confirmed cases increased to over 300 000 and a total of 4 804 people have died.

South Africa now has a total of 337 594 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Friday, 17 July.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country has also risen to 4 804.

According to data released by the Department of Health, a total 178 182 recoveries have been recorded to date.

A total of 2 373 053 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.

The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Friday:

  • Western Cape: 64 254 cases
  • Gauteng: 123 480  cases
  • KwaZulu-Natal: 37 722 cases
  • Eastern Cape: 58 860 cases
  • Limpopo: 4 160 cases
  • Mpumalanga: 6 073 cases
  • North West: 12 722 cases
  • Northern Cape: 2 044 cases
  • Free State: 8 290 cases
  • Unallocated: 5 cases
