North man gets a life sentence for murder of his ex-girlfriend

“He went back with a friend to the scene to show him what he had done."

Hammanskraal police have welcomed the life sentence handed to Jimmy Phago (35) by the Pretoria High Court for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Mosidi Kopanye (33) in May 2018.

Warrant Officer Margareth Molane said Kopanye was taken from her workplace at Temba magistrate’s court to a bush near Wallmansthall military camp on 25 May 2018, where she was then killed by Phago.

Molane said Kopanye was found with an open wound on her neck.

“He went back with a friend to the scene to show him what he had done and he found that police were still there. He was arrested at the scene. The docket was assigned to Detective William Kwakwa who collected all evidence.”
