Woman faints after winning a car

She screamed once, took a few quick steps back in an attempt to find her balance before falling on her back, she remained on the floor for several seconds.

A 44-year-old domestic worker got the shock of her life when she won a brand new Hyundai Grand i10 on Saturday in SPAR’s polony competition at SPAR Clubview in Centurion. A dramatic win saw Tebogo Kekana first confused when not finding any prize inside her box. By that time the rest of the contestants were excited to discover various SPAR vouchers in theirs. Little did Kekana know that she was actually the grand prize winner as the car keys were hidden under a cardboard inside her box. She screamed once, took a few quick steps back in an attempt to find her balance before falling on her back, she remain on the floor for several seconds until Spar Clubview retailer, Anja Jackson, helped her up.

Jackson immediately offered a shivering Kekana something to drink to regain her strength. “I don’t know what happened, I just saw myself on the ground,” Kekana said, adding that the win confirmed her dream. “Yesterday, I dreamt I was driving my new, white car and today I won a brand new Hyundai – and it is white too.”

She said she never previously won any prize of this magnitude. She was extremely excited and deemed the prize a special moment in her life. “It is the first time in my life winning a real prize.” She said finding out she was the winner immediately made her feel both excited and nervous at the same time. Kekana said the car would make it easier for her family to go home to Limpopo during the holidays.

She is currently working at one of the complexes in Centurion as a domestic worker. Jackson congratulated Kekana. “I think this is a very great prize for someone to build a lot of happy memories with and to go to a lot of nice places with.” She then thanked the car winner for supporting SPAR. The SPAR polony competition was open to all SPAR customers from 13 October until 22 November. The customers had to buy any SPAR branded polony to enter the competition and stand a chance to win a car. They had to write their names on the till slips and enter the slips into a competition box. The shop later selected 10 names of people who made it into the finals. One of the finalists did not come to the finals, leading organisers to remove his name from the contestants.
