Several suburbs have been affected by a major power outage in Pretoria on Tuesday night. Here is the latest.

A major power outage in Pretoria on Tuesday night affected several suburbs.

According to the City of Tshwane, the outage is due to a 132kv trip at Njala Scientia lines and Waltloo.

Here are the affected areas:

  • Highlands,
  • Lynnwood,
  • Villieria,
  • Koedoespoort,
  • Mamelodi and
  • Willows.

It furthermore said the outage is receiving attention.

“Restoration time is not yet known.”

Meanwhile, Pretoria residents woke up to an icy cold winter wonderland on Tuesday, and it is no wonder that today is the coldest morning of the year so far.

Many localities over the country’s interior dropped well below freezing, with widespread morning frost reported.

Widespread snow amounting to 20-50mm was reported in many parts of South Africa.

And the SA Weather Services warned that mountainous regions in the western parts of the Western Cape may see higher amounts of 70-100mm.
