A man sustained several burn injuries after a gas bottle incident in Waverley on Sunday.
According to Best Care Ambulance Services spokesperson Xander Loubser, paramedics responded to the incident on Sunday.
“The man sustained several burn wounds to his arm, chest, and legs as well as inhalation burns.”
Loubser said the man was stabilised on-site before he was airlifted by a Netcare911 helicopter to a trauma facility.
“We wish the injured a swift recovery and extend our gratitude to our dedicated teams for their hard work.”

- Store Properly: Keep gas bottles upright and in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources.
- Check for Leaks: Regularly inspect connections and hoses for any signs of wear or leaks.
- Secure Bottles: Use straps or holders to prevent bottles from tipping over.
- Follow Instructions: Always adhere to the manufacturer’s safety guidelines for use and storage.
- Know Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency shut-off procedures and how to respond to leaks or fires.
