Eleven people were injured when a minibus taxi crashed into a wall in Die Wilgers on Tuesday.
Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VEMRU) spokesperson Casper Visser said the driver lost control of the vehicle on Simon Vermooten Road near Lynnwood Road in Die Wilgers just before 17:00 on May 12.
Visser added that the passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries.
“All patients were triaged (assigned priority in emergency units) and stabilised on-site before being transported to nearby hospitals by various ambulance services,” said Visser.
He thanked Promed and Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services for their assistance at the scene.
In a separate incident, Tshwane Emergency Services responded to a collision between a taxi and a light motor vehicle at the intersection of Jan Shoba and Duncan Streets in Hatfield.
According to spokesperson Teboho Maake, the collision happened on Sunday morning, May 11.
He said emergency personnel arrived to find several casualties, including one patient trapped in a vehicle.
“The trapped individual was extricated by emergency services, and patients were transported to Tshwane District Hospital and Steve Biko Hospital.
“One patient was airlifted to Milpark Hospital in a critical condition.”
However, Maake could not confirm how many patients were injured in total.
Residents are urged to exercise caution on the roads and to support local emergency services in their efforts to provide timely medical care.
