TWO oil paintings of former president Nelson Mandela have been sold for R750 000 during the ANC fundraising gala dinner and welcoming of Premier Stan Mathabatha at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane on Friday.
President Jacob Zuma’s portrait with his top six as elected in Mangaung was sold the lesser price of R40 000.
The ANC managed to raise almost R2 million at the event.
One bidder booked a meeting with Mathabatha at the cost of R120 000, while another paid R55 000 to share a cup of coffee with foreign affairs minister, Maite Nkoana Mashabane.
A businessman from Polokwane paid R50 000 to share a cup of coffee with minister of public enterprises, Malusi Gigaba while others pledged R10 000 each
Chairperson of the Limpopo task team, Falaza Mdaka said Luthuli House gave them only nine months to reclaim the glory of the ANC in Limpopo. He said they have crushed all factions and now Mathabatha is leading a united ANC.
Gigaba said the ANc structures in the province should support Mathabatha in order to deliver good service to the people.
He said ANC members should be prepared to go out and win the souls that was lost during the time when comrades were fighting each others.
Mathabatha said he could not work with fraudsters and corrupt officers. He said he would make sure that people defrauding taxpayers’ money are arrested and probed. He said he is working hard with a team of people having good qualifications, skills and determination to serve the people of Limpopo.
The South African Communist Party, Cosatu, the task team of the ANC Youth League, the Womens League, MKVA and the Veterans Leagues pledged support to Mathabatha in his war to reclaim the glory of Limpopo.
