Eggs: Good for you
The South African Egg Producers organisation recently donated R4 000 to Ons Tuiste Old Age Home in the city.
The egg industry is committed to making sure people throughout the world have access to a sustainable, good quality food supply.
Friday, October 11 is World Egg Day, and to show their commitment to this cause, egg producers in South Africa are donating healthy food parcels and money to the less privileged.
The South African Egg Producers organisation recently donated R4 000 to Ons Tuiste Old Age Home in the city.
“We will use the donation for our frail care centre,” said John Hudson, chairperson of the home’s committee.
“Scientific research over more than 20 years old has demonstrated the specific be-nefits of eggs during all stages of life; from the fetus, through childhood, adolescence and into old age,” said Daniel van der Merwe, a representative of the egg farmers.
“Eggs have shifted from a ‘health risk’ to ‘health recommendation’ as a valuable part of a healthy eating plan.”
It’s official – South Africans can now join the rest of the world in enjoying an egg a day. With lifted restrictions on egg use you can get cracking with an egg any time of day.
