POLOKWANE – The minister of basic education, Angie Motshekga visited Hoërskool Pietersburg on Friday.
Joined by education MEC, Dikeledi Magadzi, Motshekga addressed the school assembly.
“You are the future and the future belongs to you. Look after yourself, do not get involved in violence and destructive behaviour like the drug abuse. Be each other’s keepers and do not allow something like bullying to occur,” she said.
The minister held a closed meeting with the school’s governing body and concluded her visit with a media briefing and a question and answer session with educators.
Motshekga emphasised the importance of learning from past mistakes. She said studies showed that Limpopo had the best strategies for dealing with education challenges, but was worst at implementing those strategies.
She said this was because of a total breakdown in communications and that discussions should be held where all the stakeholders were in one place to assure all concerns were addressed.
