FALAZA Mdaka, former convener of the now disbanded provincial task team of the ANC, was appointed as chief whip of the Limpopo Legislature on Thursday.
Mdaka is not new to government and has occupied several positions in local government including the position of mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality.
He was also the provincial chairperson of the South African Local Government Association (Salga).
He went on several study tours during his career in governance and learned about government best practices on a number of assignments around the globe.
Mdaka had always been very active in community development and government leadership in various capacities.
Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, ANC spokesperson in Limpopo, said Mdaka would lead the ANC caucus in the legislature and he would ensure the ANC’s programmes and election manifesto were translated into government policy.
Ntshavheni said Mdaka was adamant to ensure constituency based politics were the heartbeat of the vibrant democracy in Limpopo.
Mdaka said ANC members of the provincial legislature (MPLs) should continue to work hard and be visible in the communities where they were responsible for the welfare of the people who elected them.
