Old Mutual visits the elderly

A visit to the Regaugetswe Old Age Centre in Seshego zone 5 on Friday by Old Mutual Brokers Distribution truly touched their hearts.

POLOKWANE – A visit to the Regaugetswe Old Age Centre in Seshego zone 5 on Friday by Old Mutual Brokers Distribution truly touched their hearts.

Old Mutual Brokers Distribution marketing manager, Berel Mamabolo, said they were contacted by the manager of the centre, Persis Machaka, and asked if they would become involved with the centre in order to help wherever they could.

“I have been involved with a lot of projects around Polokwane, but this one touched my heart the most.

“There were elderly people who require care day and night, they are so vulnerable but unfortunately the centre can only care for them during the day,” she said.

The centre takes care of aged people during the day by offering activities like sewing, beading, and gardening for them to participate in.

When Mamabolo and Old Mutual Brokers Distribution manager, Nicolaas van Zyl-Smit, visited the centre, they were welcomed with dancing and welcoming smiles.

Mamabolo said they (Old Mutual) approached several sponsors to assist with the construction for a home for the aged in Seshego zone five.

She added that she had decided to participate in this project in memory of her late mother.

R20 000 and 50 blankets were also donated to the centre through the Old Mutual Staff Community Builder Programme.

Mamabolo and Van Zyl-Smit thanked all the sponsors.
