The Provincial Government hosted the Anhui People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China last Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the Premier’s visit to China later this year.
Mathabatha’s visit will have as aim the strengthening of economic and political relations between Limpopo and Anhui and other provinces of China.
A representative of Anhui province, Song Weiping, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Anhui Provincial People’s Congress, was accompanied by a 24 strong business delegation focusing on tourism, agriculture, mining and other economic development sectors.
Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (Ledet) MEC Seaparo Sekoati hosted the delegation for a welcome dinner on Tuesday and this was followed by a trade and investment seminar hosted by the department and Limpopo Economic Development Agency on Wednesday.
The aim was to look at investment opportunities and to enhance job creation and various presentations were made by for instance fresh produce markets in South Africa, the Tomato Growers Association, Subtropical Fruit Growers Association and there was also the opportunity for one-on-one engagements.
The importance of the creation of broadband opportunities was also on the discussion list as was a discussion on Special Economic Zones.
