POLOKWANE – Traditional South African dishes are perfect as they showcase the diversity of our country.
One such dish is Sishebo which has become a popular dish among many South Africans.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 1 tbsp rajah mild & spicy curry powder
- 400g beef cubes
- 1 tin peeled and chopped tomatoes
- 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup water
- 1 Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
- 2 x tbsp KNORR Minestrone Soup
- 2 tsp Robertsons Mixed Herbs
- 4 tbsp water
Method
- Heat oil in a pot and fry the onion, garlic and red pepper until soft
- Add the Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder and fry for 1 minute to release the flavour and aroma
- Add the beef cubes and fry until well browned
- Add the tinned tomatoes, potatoes, water and Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
- Stir well and bring to the boil
- Turn down the heat and allow it all to simmer for 30 minutes with the lid on, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender and the potatoes are soft
- Just before your sishebo’s done, mix the Knorr Minestrone Soup with 4 tablespoons of water to make a smooth paste, and add it to the pot
- Allow it all to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously, until it’s thick
- Serve with rice or pap
