#WFD – Beef and Red Pepper Sishebo

You can serve this dish with either rice or pap.

POLOKWANE – Traditional South African dishes are perfect as they showcase the diversity of our country.

One such dish is Sishebo which has become a popular dish among many South Africans.

What’s for Dinner gives you the opportunity to make this delicious meal.

Ingredients

  1. 2 tbsp cooking oil
  2. 1 onion, chopped
  3. 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  4. 1 red pepper, sliced
  5. 1 tbsp rajah mild & spicy curry powder
  6. 400g beef cubes
  7. 1 tin peeled and chopped tomatoes
  8. 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  9. 1 cup water
  10. 1 Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
  11. 2 x tbsp KNORR Minestrone Soup
  12. 2 tsp Robertsons Mixed Herbs
  13. 4 tbsp water

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pot and fry the onion, garlic and red pepper until soft
  2. Add the Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder and fry for 1 minute to release the flavour and aroma
  3. Add the beef cubes and fry until well browned
  4. Add the tinned tomatoes, potatoes, water and Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
  5. Stir well and bring to the boil
  6. Turn down the heat and allow it all to simmer for 30 minutes with the lid on, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender and the potatoes are soft
  7. Just before your sishebo’s done, mix the Knorr Minestrone Soup with 4 tablespoons of water to make a smooth paste, and add it to the pot
  8. Allow it all to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring continuously, until it’s thick
  9. Serve with rice or pap
