Local musician Grant ‘K-Streets’ Mothotsi is ready to take the entertainment industry by storm when he releases his album titled ‘Good times and bad times’ on a date and at a venue yet to be confirmed.
The rapper who hails from Ga-Makanye Village in Turfloop started making music at the age of 15 when he was still a learner at Hoërskool Noorderland. He said the album is based on his life journey and reiterated that it was full of motivational stories. According to K-Streets as he is popularly known in the entertainment industry, Hip-Hop music is an expression that he uses to remind people that they can still bounce back in the game after experiencing setbacks.
He indicated that after failing matric three times he decided to study sound engineering in Port Elizabeth and managed to attain a certificate. He then migrated to Gauteng to further his sound engineering studies and look for employment. Sharing his life journey, he said: “While in Gauteng, I was afforded an opportunity to be part of television dramas such as Isidingo and Rhythm City. I also founded a clothing line ‘Lit Gang’ which made me drop out of school as I used my fees money to open a store. Unfortunately television gigs became scarce and my clothing brand failed forcing me to close shop.”
K-Streets emphasised that these are some of his failures that perpetuated him to focus on music and share his experiences with the public – especially youth.
He added that his motto in life is ‘Take a setback and bounce back’. He further indicated that he would be launching a music video called ‘On my way’ in August and reiterated that Hip-Hop fans can expect nothing but great music from his album. K-Streets encouraged youth to stay true to themselves and keep pushing when they encounter obstacles along the way.
