Hail causes damage at mall

HIGHVELD – Various properties in Secunda and Trichardt, as well as the new Secunda Mall that opened on 23 October were damaged by the hail storms on Saturday, 26 October and Monday, 28 October.

Ms Marita Kroon, spokesman for Secunda Mall, said: “The recent hail storms caused unforeseen damage to some of the mall’s upper level stores, forcing them to close temporarily.

“The centre management team of Secunda Mall is busy assessing the damage.

“Fortunately the stores on the lower level of the mall are unaffected and are trading as usual.”

Some streets in Secunda looked like rivers while other streets and yards looked like they were covered in snow after Monday’s storm.

According to the website www.secundaweather.co.za Secunda got 55.8mm rain on Monday.
