BETHAL – The man accused of hiring six men to rape his wife and then apparently raped her afterwards, appeared in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 26 February.
A case was only opened five days after the alleged rape.
“After forensic assessment, it was established that the accused showed typical signs of a sadist,” said Capt Elizabeth Koekemoer.
The court heard how pornographic material was confiscated from the man’s home and is believed to be of a sadistic nature.
The accused was charged of rape and indecent assault of a six year old in 1998.
He was acquitted of these charges.
An ex-girlfriend of the accused opened a case of assault against him in 1999.
The charges were also withdrawn.
In the man’s previous court appearance, he said his wife had made up the allegations against him and that she is bipolar and a boarder line schizophrenic.
Capt Elizabeth Koekemoer said: “No other arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.”
The man’s bail application was postponed and he will re-appear in the Bethal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 5 March.
