Nelly sheds more fat
Boot Camp contestant shares her story about losing weight in 13 weeks.
eMBALENHLE – Ms Nelly Ramajoe is relieved to have finally won her long battle against her weight.
She has been trying to lose weight for years and the decision to shed the kilograms, came after she realised that she was getting heavier.
Ms Ramajoe’s first step was to join the second season of Mzansi Magic’s reality television series, Boot Camp.
“I got to a point where I was uncomfortable with my own weight and then I saw an advert that Boot Camp was having auditions.
“I thought this could be the programme to help me lose weight.”
The show is hosted by Kabelo Mabalane, a Kwaito and television star, and is aimed at helping 10 contestants, five men and five women countrywide, to transform their lives for the better by shedding excessive weight.
They competed against each other for 13 weeks in various physical and psychological challenges with the hope of losing the most weight and conquering their personal trials at the end.
The contestant that lost the least amount of weight and showed the least amount of determination after weekly challenges, were eliminated.
Ms Ramajoe weighed 158kg at the beginning of the show and by the time she was eliminated before the last episode, she had already lost more than 50kg.
She weighs 102 kg and wants to lose more weight.
Ms Ramajoe continues to excise regularly and eats healthy.
She said losing weight was her personal decision.
“I do not want to get all these weight-related illnesses such as high blood pressure and want to live long enough to raise my children,” said Ms Ramajoe.
